Hello my friends, sorry for my absence, I had many things to do because I’m leaving for vacations to the beautiful island of Corfu, but before I go I wanna tell you about the technique which is done on gingham (checkered) fabric, which gives the impression of appliquéd lace.
Chicken Scratch, Tenneriffe Lace, Depression Lace, Chinese Pinwheel, Tic Tac Toe Embroidery, Hoover Star, Mountain Lace, Gingham Lace, Norwegian Embroidery, Snowflake Embroidery or Amish Embroidery these are some of the names that you can find this technique.
You can do many things with that, is very easy, and the results are gorgeous!!!!
I had embroidered one curtain for my kitchen window, many many years ago. To my surprise, as I was surfing in the internet I saw that is quite popular and that many more women knew about it and made some beautiful masterpieces.
It’s really simple stitches that produce that awesome result, I promise you when I’ll get back from my vacations I’ll make a video tutorial for you.
Here are two pdf’s with the history and instructions on that beautiful lace. The first is from West Virginia Univercity
Chicken Scratch Embroidery Leader
and the second one is from Kentucky Univercity- College of Agriculture
